A homicide is considered as having been committed on the occasion or by reason of the robbery when the motive of the offender in killing the victim is to deprive the latter of his property, to eliminate an obstacle to the crime, to protect his possession of the loot, to eliminate witnesses, to prevent his being apprehended or to insure his escape from the scene of the crime, or to prevent discovery of the commission of the robbery. But if robbery was an afterthought and a minor incident in the homicide, there are two distinct offenses. (
