Resign, re-assign but keep the MONEY? Duterte's corruption policy

Duterte has always presented himself as a leader who hates drugs and corruption. In fact, he is popular for saying, "My God! I hate drugs/corruption!" However, in the past few months, the Philippines has seen what Chief Justice Sereno describes as a "publicity stunt" which involves allegedly firing or forcing corruption officials to resign but later reassigning them to different offices.

This strategy did work at least ten (10) or twenty (20) years ago when information moved very slowly and there were not many cameras around. In this day and age, Duterte can no longer fool people into thinking that he is "tough on corruption" while letting plunderers and thieves enjoy the money.

If the President is seriously about cleaning up government, he should put them behind bars.
Critics questioned President Rodrigo Duterte's re-appointment of several officials previously fired for various allegations including corruption. They said this puts into question his sincerity in fighting government corruption.

But Duterte and MalacaƱang insisted officials re-assigned to other offices did not necessarily mean they did something wrong.
