When did "Team PH vs. Team CHN" start?

Not more than two (2) years ago, most, if not all, Filipinos were angry at China not only because of the proliferation of "China [fake or imitation] products" in the Philippines but also because of China's act of bullying the Philippines and attempting to take as its own certain Philippine islands. When did at least 16 million Filipinos start to become pro-China?

Former President Noynoy Aquino was very firm in his stand against China's bullying and even won a case in an international tribunal regarding issues of overlapping claims over islands. This is not beyond the knowledge of current President Rodrigo Duterte. In fact, he thanked Noynoy some time in 2016.

NEWS: President Rodrigo Duterte said he thanked President Benigno Aquino III for giving the Philippines the "ace card" in the issue of the country's overlapping claims with China. xxx “Si President Aquino, ganun naman, but he won for us the case. Kaya ako nagsabi na maraming salamat for giving us the ace card. It was he who filed -- it was upon his instruction,” Duterte said. However, three (3) months after Duterte thanked Noynoy, something changed. He suddenly detached himself from the United States (US) and started making friends with China. Possibly due to pressure from human rights advocates from the West and after calling US President Barack Obama a "dark-skinned son of a bitch," Duterte ended the seventy-year (70-year) long relationship between the US and the Philippines in one speech, in one sentence, in August 2016. Surprisingly but not surprisingly, he said the comment in Beijing, in front of hundreds of Chinese businessmen.

NEWS: Duterte made his comments in Beijing, where he is visiting with at least 200 business people to pave the way for what he calls a new commercial alliance as relations with longtime ally Washington deteriorate. xxx “In this venue, your honors, in this venue, I announce my separation from the United States,” Duterte told Chinese and Philippine business people, to applause, at a forum in the Great Hall of the People attended by Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli. SOURCE: Duterte aligns Philippines with China, says U.S. has lost; by Ben Blanchard; OCTOBER 20, 2016 / 12:18 PM / 2 YEARS AGO;  https://www.reuters.com/article/us-china-philippines-idUSKCN12K0AS
In the same speech, Duterte hinted that the issue on territorial disputes would take a "back seat." This means that the administration would, as it has always failed to do so, no longer pursue the Philippines' victory against China over disputed islands.

In short, pressure from human rights groups in the West, particularly from the US, motivated Duterte to give up on US-PH relations and Philippine ownership over disputed islands.

And so began (just two [2] years ago), the battle between Team Philippines and Team China, the opposition which advocates territorial integrity against the administration which seeks the love and care of Xi Jinping.
