PRRD admin: Xi-caused traffic 'understandable'; Pope-caused traffic, 'son of a b*tch, go home'

Note that Xi and the Pope are both heads of state. Therefore, there is no reason why there should be difference in treatment.

Presidential Spokesperson Sal Panelo appealed for public understanding over the massive traffic in some parts of Metro Manila during Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit. “That should be understandable given the fact that the Manila area, the work was suspended, hence all the motorists would not be passing here so they would have to converge in Makati area and other places,” Panelo said in a Palace news conference. Panelo appealed for public understanding over the massive traffic. “We have to live with that because the concern of the state would be the security of the visiting head of state (Xi),” Panelo said.

It seems not even Pope Francis is spared from presidential aspirant and Davao City mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s characteristic cursing. During PDP-Laban’s formal declaration of him as their presidential candidate on Monday, November 30, Duterte made the leader of the world’s 1.2 billion Catholics the object of an expletive.

Maintaining his joking tone, Duterte said, “Gusto kong tawagan, ‘Pope putang ina ka, umuwi ka na. ‘Wag ka nang magbisita dito. (Pope, you son of a bitch, go home. Don’t visit here anymore.)”

Some people in the audience still laughed but it was more subdued than after his other jokes.

Pope Francis, who visited Metro Manila and storm-stricken Leyte province last January, is well-loved among Filipinos – a majority of whom are Roman Catholic.
