Group of lawyers DISSENTS, declares quo warranto ouster "unconstitutional"

Quoted below, in full, is the statement of the National Union of Peoples' Lawyers (NUPL) regarding the recent decision of the Supreme Court to oust Chief Justice Sereno through a petition for quo warranto under Rule 66.

WE MUST DISSENT.

We summon fellow lawyers, law students and court workers, to a day of protest and pleading versus the unconstitutional quo warranto ouster of the Chief Justice and its negative effects on judicial independence.

Let us unite on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 starting at 9:30am in front of the Supreme Court.
