The truth? You don’t need to do anything special. You just need to do your current school stuff well first. Everything else is just a detail, I promise you that.

Without good school grades, it will be a non-starter any which way you look at it. The field is highly competitive (and expensive) to get in, and even more competitive to stay in. If you don’t get good grades, you just won’t get in. Simple as that. (NOTE: This is not particularly true in all law schools in the Philippines.)

If I had to give you pointers, I’d say these things will get you moving in the right direction:
Find a way to become a fluent reader and articulate writer. The whole racket about law is to read up, be read-in, and lots of writing. If your skills in the reading and writing department is going to let you down, you won’t be able to read the stuff about politics, history, philosophy, logical fallacies, you name it, because you’ll be lacking in this basic skill of information gathering. I promise you, your sadistic law professor will make you read a 40-page case for summarizing into a 100-word paragraph. You won’t be able to do that unless you have some solid language skills.

Start knowing something about debates and logical fallacies. No need to go “deep hack mode” about this. Just fetch the chart off the Internet about logical fallacies and argumentation techniques — that’ll be good enough at your present level. Law is also about making a case — debates. Join your debates team at school.

Learn to eat well and exercise. Unbelievable and irrelevant as this may seem right now, once you get into legal studies (and then on into law), you’re not going to get much opportunity to eat, sleep or exercise properly. The long studying and working hours will see to that. Build up your physical condition now for wrecking later.

Learn some basic bookkeeping and accounting. Look, this is a fact of life whether you’ll be going into law or something else. The outside world is about money. At some point, you’ll be dealing with this crap in one way or another. As a lawyer, you’ll certainly be dealing with it. Learn to know what the hell to ask the accountant.

Do a full secretarial course. No joke, but this will be money well spent. A full secretarial course lasts barely a year. In return, you’ll get trained in the ways of office work, never mind the typewritingand shorthand. It also opens up the opportunity for you to work as a legal secretary before you qualify, if economic conditions are not great.

Save up. Self-explanatory. Law school is expensive. Reduce debt load. Read more: Robert Charles Lee. What can I do at age 15 if I want to become a great lawyer? Updated answer on September 6, 2020. https://www.quora.com/What-can-I-do-at-age-15-if-I-want-to-become-a-great-lawyer.
