SC: Rape NOT respecter of time, place

That contention is palpably devoid of merit, for rape need not be committed in an isolated place. The fact that there were other people sleeping in the same room will not guarantee that rape cannot be committed. Lust, we have repeatedly noted, is no respecter of time and place. Crimes against chastity have been committed in many and different kinds of places, including those which most people would consider as inappropriate or as presenting a high risk of discovery. As we held in People vs. Manuel, rape is not impossible even if committed in the same room while the rapist's spouse was sleeping, or in a small room where other family members also slept. [G.R.
